UV Lights
Ultraviolet Clarifier Sterilization (UV) is a dependable, proven method for the removal of bacteria, protozoa and algae spores in your pond. Nothing ruins the tranquility, enjoyment and appearance of your pond or water garden more quickly than algae. Adding a UV clarifier is the only way you can eliminate the green water caused my the millions of unicellular, waterborne algae and keep it away. UV clarifiers generate ultraviolet radiation to effectively kill the micro-organisms, such as algae, when exposed to this UV light. By implementing a UV clarifier, the targeted organisms are effectively eradicated without harming the environment of the pond. Continuous operation of the UV sterilizer keeps your pond clear without causing harm to plants or fish. These ultraviolet lights are what you need to eliminate the algae spores and are a much more economical and safer way to control the algae in your water garden, as opposed to using chemical algaecides which if used incorrectly can kill fish and plant life. Most UV clarifiers are to be installed in-line of the tubing or PVC plumbing in the pond and are to be used in an external application usually after the biological filter and before a water fall, etc. When selecting your UV light for your water garden, items labeled for a "clarifier" are intended to eliminate green water and algae. A "sterilizer" will also target green water, but will also eradicate floating bacteria and protozoa in your pond. When adding beneficial bacteria into your pond, it is recommended the UV clarifier be turned off for an average of three days to ensure the colonization of the bacteria safely.
We offer UV clarifiers and sterilizers from Alpine, Calpump, PondMaster, Oase, Savio and Tetra.
