Algae Control
As no pond is immune to an algae bloom, algae control is a necessity for maintaining a beautiful pond. Algae needs nutrition and sunlight to survive. This can be in the form of fish waste, decaying organic matter (leaves & plants), excessive amounts of fish food and decomposed fish. In addition, low oxygen levels and exposure to direct sunlight will also contribute to algae growth. We offer a full line of pond algae control products to treat both single cell algae and string algae in water gardens ranging from large to small. All of our pond algae control products are safe to use in ornamental ponds with fish and aquatic life.
Why do I need to control pond algae? Not all algae is harmful or unwanted. The short velvet type that grows on rocks and on the side of the pond make for a healthy ecosystem and provide a natural look. However, certain types of algae can be an unsightly mess in a backyard pond. An algae bloom can inhibit you from enjoying the beauty of your decorative pond. Green water and string algae can make it difficult to look past the surface of the water, which makes it difficult to see koi, goldfish and other aquatic life. With proper treatment, an algae infestation can be cleared up and maintained to look great all season long.
